A Campaign to Conserve the Historic Landscape of the
Upper Little Tennessee River Valley!

On the eve of the American Revolution, 250 years ago, the upper Little Tennessee Valley was the heartland of the mountain Cherokee. It was also at the center of historic forces that would shape the birth of our nation, as first British, and then Colonial interests clashed with those of the native people for control of the principal trade route through the southern mountains. The September 1776 colonial military campaign against Cowee was the "Lexington and Concord" of the American Revolution in the South.

With more than 36 miles of river valley conserved since 1999, we still have a chance to keep intact much of this historic landscape.

Gifts of Appreciated Assets

A gift of assets such as stocks, bonds or mutual funds can be made outright or used to fund a gift arrangement that provides lifetime income. This is a great way to support LTLT's work by giving assets that may otherwise create a capital gains issue for the donor.

Gifts of Land or Real Estate

Gifts of real property may come to LTLT in two categories: 1) important conservation lands that are directly added to LTLT's permanent protection efforts, and 2) real estate that can be sold or traded so that the proceeds can help protect critical open space.
