Go
shopping - support conservation

The Land Trust for the Little Tennessee
(LTLT) hopes you'll go shopping Saturday, July 15
The organization
has enlisted the help of a number of local businesses for “Support
Your Local Land Trust Day.”
Participants
will donate a percentage of the day's sales to the LTLT.
Stores taking
part in the promotion will display a poster in the window.
“It's
a partnership,” said Kate Parkerson, membership and outreach
coordinator for the land trust. “We're promoting the businesses
in exchange for their donation. We hope this will become an annual
event.”
The LTLT's mission
is to conserve the waters, forests, farms and heritage of the Upper
Little Tennessee and Hiwassee River Valleys, working in partnership
with private landowners, public agencies, and others.
The idea of
partnership is central to the nonprofit, Parkerson said.
“We want
people to know that when you buy property, you are now a part of
the community.”
The LTLT offers
people a way to give back, and that includes the business community,
she said.
Parkerson added
that a recent change to the website now makes it possible for people
to donate “live, online.”
Membership in
the LTLT is $35 “and up” for individuals, $250 for business
members.
Merchants wanting
to participate in “Support Your Local Land Trust Day”
should call Parkerson at 524-2711, extension 5.
